Health & Safety Assistant Manager/Manager

Job Description

Our Client is a leading global integrated logistics company that operates in international express, overland transportation and air freight areas. They are looking for an experienced professional in health and safety, reporting to the Facility and Transport Director, to join them at their office in Singapore as:

Health & Safety Assistant Manager/Manager

Responsibilities

• Liaise with customers, suppliers, contractors, and external statutory agencies (MOM, NEA, HSA & SCDF).
• Work closely with operations to formulate safe work procedures, in support of an accident free environment.
• Design safety programs to educate all levels of the organization to increase safety awareness and improve safety performance.
• Report and feedback to senior management on safety performance – indicators include accident statistics, severity indices and contraventions etc.
• Impact of failure to manage procurement duty may result in temporary inconvenience to staff needing to print, copy etc.
• Act as the Management Representative to OHSAS 18001 Safety Management System and thereby maintain in terms of updating the changes in the local Safety Management System SOPS, requirements, objectives and distribution etc.
• Design, document, implement and evaluate Safety system, services and procedures to meet corporate, legal and customer(s) requirements.
• Design and update Safety Programs to meet legal, customer obligations such as safety inspections, promotional activities, talks, exhibitions, staff training etc.
• Organize fire drills in line with SCDF’s requirements.
• Report safety performance to country management and to Regional HSE Director.
• Keep abreast with the legal EHS developments and update the management and staff of associated implications.
• Initiate Improvement activities to reduce accidents / incidents so as to keep workplace health and safety standards to the optimum.

Skills

• At least 5 years of related experience in OHSAS 18001 Safety Management System
• Incumbent should be able to exercise judgment in accordance with well defined policies and procedures.
• Incumbent must demonstrate ability to influence decisions/actions through provision of value-added inputs into the organisation’s business processes.
