Freight Manager vacancy: The primary responsibility of the freight manager is to ensure efficient and effective Europe-wide freight management services with our customer, who is a large multinational consumer lifestyle company. Part of that responsibility includes coaching and mentoring the operational team, resulting in a stable organization, maximized efficiency and high moral. Initiates hands-on, pro-active problem solving discussions with customers, vendors, suppliers and other support personnel. The Freight Manager is accountable for key performance indicators relating to the customer and reports to the Account Manager.
Highlights of duties and responsibilities involved are:
* Establish, maintain and continuously improve standard operating procedures and
performance measurements with the customer.
* Manage an operational team (2 team leaders and 10 associates) on day to day
basis, ensuring agreed upon procedures and performance measurements are executed
and met in order to meet and exceed customer expectations.
* Responsible for weekly and monthly performance measurement reporting for the
customer and suppliers, analyzing the data in order to pro-actively identify problems
and create solutions.
* Forecast and optimize human capital throughout the year which includes seasonality.
* Collaborate with the implementation team assisting in the start up of additional
transportation flows as it pertains to staffing and processes.
* Work closely with the account manager reviewing the account status on a regular basis
and utilizing continuous improvement methodologies to meet and exceed customer
expectations.
* Travel in Europe 15-20%.
* A minimum of 3 to 5 years practical work experience in transportation/logistics.
* Knowledgeable about transportation management systems including electronic
interfacing, reporting and invoicing.
* Ability to use transportation management system tools to increase productivity and
output.
* International transportation and logistics industry knowledge with special focus on
European road transport; Sea and rail transport knowledge desirable.
* Ability to effectively coach, mentor and lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Customer-focused; objective and open-minded with excellent interpersonal skills.
* Work and residence permits for employment in the Netherlands.
* Dutch driver’s license
* Bachelor/MBO level required, or equivalent from experience. Business, logistics or
transportation area of study preferred.
* Bilingual, English required, French/German desired
* Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).
